The film tells the story of a school worker, Pavel Talankin, who secretly recorded on video how in Russian schools after the start of the war against Ukraine, state propaganda was being spread among children. The collected materials became the basis of the documentary film.

The Oscar victory was the culmination of the film’s success. The tape bypassed several strong competitors and drew attention to the topic of propaganda and the role of education during the war.
