Emergency power outages were imposed in Kyiv and parts of Kyiv Oblast on March 14. The restrictions were imposed after a massive overnight attack by Russia that caused damage to energy infrastructure and power outages.
According to energy experts, emergency shutdowns were applied both in the capital and in the Buchansky district of the Kyiv region. This step allows to stabilize the operation of the power system and prevent overloading of networks after damage.
Consequences of the night attack
On the night of March 14, Russian forces carried out a massive combined strike on the Kyiv region, using missiles and strike drones. Several districts of the region were hit.
As a result of the shelling, people died and were injured. There was also damage to residential buildings, dormitories, warehouses and other infrastructure. The most damaged settlements were in the Brovarsky, Vyshhorodsky, Obukhivsky and Buchansky districts.
The work of rescuers and energy workers
Rescuers and emergency crews are working on the scene after the attack. They are extinguishing fires, clearing debris, and restoring damaged power grids.
Energy experts explain that emergency shutdowns are a temporary measure. After the situation stabilizes and the damaged areas are repaired, power supply will gradually be restored to normal.
