Ukraine marks the 1584th day of resistance against Russia’s large-scale military invasion. This Friday began with the elimination of the consequences of another combined Russian ballistic and drone strikes on critical infrastructure and civilian buildings in several regions of the country. At the same time, Ukrainian forces demonstrated a deep response behind enemy lines, attacking Russian industrial facilities, and a large-scale summit on financing post-war reconstruction concluded on the international stage. A detailed analysis of the day’s key events is published by the Odessa and national editorial offices of the information portal 34.ua.
1. Combined attack by the Russian Federation: Strikes on Sumy, Kyiv, Zaporizhia and blackout in Vylkove
On the night of June 26, Russian occupation forces carried out another massive raid on Ukraine’s civilian and energy infrastructure, using kamikaze drones and ballistic missiles.
Sumy: A hostile drone hit the roof of a nine-story residential building in the regional center. A large-scale fire broke out, and rescuers from the State Emergency Service quickly evacuated 40 residents.
Odesa region: coastal infrastructure of Izmail district was hit. As a result of the attack on the energy facility, a fire broke out in a cottage, one person was injured. Due to damage to the networks, the city of Vylkove and some settlements of the community were completely left without electricity.
Zaporizhia: the region has been subjected to massive pressure (887 strikes were recorded on 44 settlements of the region per day). In Zaporizhia itself, a private residential building was damaged, one person died, and 10 more were injured to varying degrees of severity.
Kyiv: Warehouses in the suburbs of the capital were damaged and set on fire by debris from downed air targets.
Expert opinion (Mykhailo Zhirokhov, military analyst):
“With this attack, the enemy continues to look for weaknesses in our air defense, with the emphasis shifting from the purely capital region to the front-line Sumy, Zaporizhia, and specific logistics hubs, such as the Danube Delta (Vylkove). The blackout in the south of Odessa region is a direct consequence of the aggressor’s attempt to blow up the port and adjacent infrastructure. Our air defense has to work in conditions of ultra-high intensity, reflecting ballistics in parallel with swarms of drones.”
2. War on enemy territory: Drones attacked chemical giant Azot in Tula region and facilities in Moscow
The night of June 26 became extremely restless for the Russian military-industrial complex. Ukrainian long-range UAVs attacked the large Azot chemical plant in the city of Novomoskovsk, Tula region. A series of powerful explosions were heard on the territory of the enterprise, which produces ammonia and components for explosives, which lasted several hours. In addition, the Russian Defense Ministry announced a massive drone attack on Moscow and the Moscow region, where air defense systems were also actively operating and debris falling near industrial zones was recorded. Powerful explosions were also recorded in various areas of the occupied Crimea.
Expert opinion (Sergiy Zvarych, military analyst, expert on special services):
“The destruction of a facility such as Novomoskovsk Azot in the Tula region is a serious blow to the enemy’s defense logistics, as the products of this chemical giant are directly involved in the production cycle of ammunition and gunpowder for the Russian army. The transfer of hostilities to the deep rear of the Russian Federation and the systematic destruction of industrial facilities are part of the approved long-term strategy to counter the Kremlin’s military potential.”
3. International support: Results of the conference in Gdansk – 160 agreements signed for 10 billion euros
On the morning of June 26, the official results of the Conference on the Reconstruction of Ukraine, which ended in Gdansk, Poland, became known. According to Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction Yulia Svyrydenko, the Ukrainian delegation signed more than 160 important international agreements and memorandums for a total amount of more than 10 billion euros . In addition, the EU Energy Community announced the mobilization of another 600 million euros, which will be urgently allocated to the restoration of Ukrainian generating capacities by the beginning of the autumn-winter period.
Expert opinion (Ihor Melnyk, infrastructure and international economics analyst):
“Attracting 10 billion euros in investments and grants within the framework of the Gdansk Conference is a colossal diplomatic and economic success for Ukraine in June 2026. Most importantly, 600 million euros from the Energy Community are going to be used as “real” money to purchase transformers and equipment for damaged thermal power plants and substations. This will allow at least partially to stabilize the energy system after the recent massive shelling.”
4. Situation at the front: 257 combat clashes, heavy fighting in the Sloviansk and Hulyaipil directions
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported in its morning report on the extremely high intensity of hostilities on the contact line – 257 combat clashes were recorded per day.
The most critical areas remain the Slavyansk direction (23 enemy attacks), Pokrovsky (31 assaults), Konstantinivsky (23 assaults) and Hulyaipilsky (27 clashes). The occupiers are actively using assault aircraft, but the Defense Forces are holding their positions firmly.
The total losses of the Russian army during the day amounted to another 1,310 occupiers , 68 artillery systems and two units of heavy armored vehicles. The total number of losses of Russian personnel exceeded 1,398,370 people .
